I have always been an appreciated orator, today I came across a speech I was asked to deliver at the high school farewell to my seniors. It took me down to those days of stage and audience and scripts, its been a while I have written an original speech, I am posting it as an inspiration to start writing again and for anyone who ...well needs a farewell speech ready!! :)
Farewell
They say, life never ends! Indeed it doesn't, because its too beautiful to end, too precious to let go, too amazing not to make the best of it. We have been together on this journey for a long time, long enough to make a mark in your life as well as in ours. A look back will reveal to us what imprints it has left in us, and we call that Friendship! All of us have tasted it in big or small measures, in a bittersweet dose.
As you begin a new journey of life, which you earnestly desire to embark on, you experience the pain of separation, an unexplainable feeling of uncertainty, offered and apprehension, and yet part you must, from this honeymoon of life; called schooling and security that had become so much a part of your life. At this moment, we would like to assure you of our good will, our moral and physical support, of our friendship and prayers.
The measure of your success, will entirely depend on your capacity to keep your feet , firmly on the ground, and yet be able to soar high, as far as your imagination,hardwork annd your faith in yourself and in god will take you. It is an amazing flight, that poets and successful men and women talk about. The only thing that will keep you flying high and right is the bonds that securely and surely, bind you to school. That is the power you have garnered, to stick to the right beliefs, to make them your own, and those that have given you the joy of living. If there is one thing you need to hold back and hang on to, is the values, the principles and the joy that you treasure now. They will let you rise high to your destination without being lost in a flight of fancy or short term gains, where there is neither true achievement and happiness, the one thing you secretly and avidly are looking for.
The path ahead is strewn with the remains of those who have fallen by the wayside, or of those who appear to be clothed with glamor and wealth, and it may appear daunting, but rest assured that triumph and success are deep within you, in the sanctuary of your own life, the sweetness of which, only you can savour. So keep your light burning and secure, with the best that you have learnt to treasure and believe in.
Go, where the others dare not go, even if it be as a stranger to the ground, because if that is the mark of you as a person, it is the only right one for you.. You are a child of the jubilee year, a child of destiny,keep that gift of your school/college life as a precious treasure.
